Hey,
Was wondering if anyone knew if there is any way of converting dat files to wav? When I used to use Kazaa lite, the files would be dat's until they were fully downloaded and you'd be able to play them in winamp, but now you can't. I tried getting the older version of winamp, but it still won't let me play them anymore. The crazy reason I ask, is that I had skype answerphoen for a little while, and it saves messages as dat files. Now, I no longer have it because I didnt' really like it much, but I've got this one message that I really wanted to keep. Now though, I can no longer access it to listen to it again. If anyone knows a way of converting it and wants to let me know, that'd be really helpful. I tried looking in CDEX under re-incode compressed audio, but it wouldn't recognise the file type. Worth a try though smile...

skype encrypts the .dat files for voice mails.
a lot of .dat files are encrypted program side, so a converter would have to know the encryption scheme that was used
